              General specifications for bars

 

Front Bar:

All front bars should be 42" above the finished floor. Any significant variation will result in a mismatch with bar stools. Some handicapped codes require that a section of the bar be 30" above the finished floor to accommodate wheel chairs.

Bar tops can vary from between 20 and 28 inches in width,  including a drink rail if required. The bar top thickness is usually 1.5 inches with a front rail which can be thicker.

Back bar:                                                                                                     

Lower back bar tops are generally the same height as the front bar, but can vary depending upon unique equipment installations such as a wine cuvenet or decorative sink. Commercial back bar tops are 24 to 30 inches deep. Home bar tops are 12 to 16 inches deep

Upper back bars carry a wide variety of design configurations including shelving, diamond wine bins, booths,  glass racks and bottle steps. Back bars almost always use some type of mirror for depth of space and field of view. Back bars can be any height, and are usually relative to the ceiling

Under bar coolers are just under 40 !/2", some as low as 37". Under bar coolers are 27 inches deep.

Seating:

Commercial bars require 2 feet per seat. Home bars require 22 inches.

Bar Top Finishes

Solid wood and veneer:   Solid wood bar tops are the most common and use a variety of finishes including, conversion varnish, catalytic urethane, and poly urethane. 

Designer concrete:  Composite stone bar tops use polyester resin and or epoxy resin.

Wood border with ground steel or stone inlay:  Two layer epoxy resin.

Resin specifications:

Our table & bar commercial grade epoxy resin is specially formulated for us by a leading chemical company. The product is a 1 to 1 by volume mixture:  Amines, Liquid, Corrosive, N.O.S. (Polyoxpropylenediamine) 8, UN2735, PGIII product and is designed for bar and table tops in extremely high traffic areas such as experienced by night clubs and restaurants. Our crystal-clear table top epoxy is about 25% harder than our regular grade, contains a non-yellowing agent and forms a beautiful, tough, hard, durable finish that's water, alcohol and scratch resistant. Just perfect for table and bar tops plus all the other applications of our regular epoxy resin above.
